April Family Newsletter

March 31, 2025

Dear Lowell Families,

We have a fun and busy week planned ahead, including a visit from The Fifth Avenue Theater, whole-school Bingo, and our monthly PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Assembly, focused on community joy and student recognition. Our 2nd Graders will also be starting their poetry and song-writing residency with the Jack Straw Theater.

On Tuesday, April 1, all 5th grade families are invited to our Islandwood Family Information Night. This event will be held virtually from 5:30-6:30 PM. Interpretation will be provided in Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese. Your child’s teacher will send you the meeting link. Also note that all Islandwood paperwork is due by Tuesday, April 8th.

Note from PTA: Hello Dragons! We hope you are well in union with your family. The PTA wants to invite you to please come to join us for our next Playground-Playdate, which will happen at Cascade Park (333 Pontius Ave N. Seattle, WA 98109) on Sunday April 6th, from 2 to 4 pm. We will have snacks, games, playtime, community building and lots of fun.

Here are some other updates from the school:

  • There will be NO SCHOOL April 14-18, for Spring Break. School will resume on Monday, April 21st.
  • 5th Grade will be going to overnight camp, Islandwood, from April 21-24. Islandwood is located on Bainbridge Island. We will leave the day students return from Spring Break. Thanks to a generous grant from Outdoor Schools of Washington, this field trip is free for all families.
  • If you have a younger child (ages 3 or 4) who will be attending preschool in 2025-6, applications are now open. Please check out the SPS Early Learning website for registration details.
  • Spring State Testing will begin the week of May 5 and will continue through the month of May for our 3rd-5th grade students. Look for more information coming soon.

Remember, consistent attendance makes a difference for our students and community and is correlated with high levels of student achievement. Thank you so much for your partnership helping get your students to school, ready for learning and fun each day.

With gratitude,

Ms. Chelsea Dziedzic, Lowell Principal

Ms. Antonia Gray, Lowell Assistant Principal
