November Family Newsletter
November Family Newsletter
November 9, 2024
Dear Lowell Families,
It is hard to believe it is already November. Here are some upcoming dates and news from the school:
- There will be no school for students on Monday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day.
- On Thursday, November 14th from 6:00-7:30, the Lowell PTA invites your family to join us for a night of Bingo, Loteria, hot chocolate, and family fun!
- There will be no school for students the week of November 25-29 because of conferences and the fall break. School will resume on Monday, Dec. 2.
Family-teacher conferences will be held on November 25, 26, and 27 this year. Our goal is to connect with all families in ways that are culturally responsive, flexible, and best meet everyone’s needs. This may involve offering various formats for meetings (in-person, virtual, or phone), offering interpretation, and being open to accommodating schedules. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out soon to schedule your meeting. We are looking forward to seeing you and partnering together to support your child’s growth.
Here are some ongoing reminders:
- Transportation/Pick-up Changes: Any day-of pick-up or transportation changes need to be communicated to the school office no later than 3:00 PM.
- Bus Questions/Issues: Any school bus/transportation related questions must be relayed to SPS Transportation. Please utilize the “Let’s Talk” option on the SPS-Transportation Website.
- Volunteers: We welcome classroom and school volunteers at Lowell. We will also have opportunities for chaperoning field trips this year. There is an online volunteer application process. If you have any questions, contact Lowell Levy Coordinator, Sara Jo Pietraszewski, at sjpietraszew@seattleschools.org
Consistent attendance makes a difference for our students and community and is correlated with higher levels of student achievement. Our schoolwide goal this year is 92% attendance and no more than two absences per month (per student). Research shows that missing more than 2 days per month (10%) can have a negative impact on a student’s academic performance. When students must be absent, we expect that you will call the office at 206-252-3020 or email Shelby at shehrenmeeng@seattleschools.org If there are any health-related concerns (or you are unsure about whether or not your child is well enough to attend), you can contact our school Nurse Teri Ginster at tdginster1@seattleschools.org
November is naturally a month to express gratitude. Your commitment to supporting your student(s) and the school is seen and deeply appreciated.
With gratitude for your partnership,
Ms. Chelsea Dziedzic (pronounced Jay-Jick), Lowell Principal
Ms. Antonia Gray, Lowell Assistant Principal
