    Dear Lowell Families,

It’s been long enough that I am no longer counting days. I miss you all. Getting to talk to you and your students by phone or on Teams makes me so happy! And the video that parents put together for Teacher Appreciation made me cry big tears in my front yard.

I have two things to share today. First is how to access the grade reports from winter trimester. The second is some resources from Sound Discipline. I hope you use them both!

If you have questions or just want to chat, please do drop me a line and I’ll call you! As always, if your family has unmet basic needs, please let me or your classroom teacher know and we’ll call in the troops to ensure you get what you need. Tracey Thompson, our school Social Worker and Youka Hem, our Family Support Worker, have been working tirelessly to ensure that families are sheltered and fed. We’re also working hard on helping people find WiFi and use their devices. Let us know if you have any of those needs, too!

Trimester 2 grade reports are now available through the Source. I’m pasting directions that a teacher who is a parent created for families. I hope it is very helpful. You can also find instructions on the district website.

How to Access Progress Reports on The Source

    1. In the top right corner of any SPS website, click the Students drop-down menu and then click The Source.

    2. If you have previously set up your Source account, enter your username and password. If you have not previously set up your Source account, click ‘Set up’. More information on how to set up your Source account.
    3. In the top right-hand corner, select which child’s progress reports you would like to access.
    4. Click Elementary Progress Reports.
    5. Click Trimester 2. You will be prompted to save this file in order to open it and view your child’s progress report.

Below please also find many resources from Sound Discipline for parents. I never faced pandemic level closeness with my children, but I would have needed this and much, much more if I had. It’s not for families who don’t already know how to parent and love their children. It’s for the rest of us -of you, who we all know are skilled and love your children. But in times like these, all of us need a little help.
