    Dear Families,

I want to assure you that Lowell Elementary School staff is dedicated to keeping our school safe in the face of our state’s coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. As the SPS communication said this morning, at this point we have no confirmed cases in Seattle Schools. Even so, staff are working hard to ensure that students and adults wash hands frequently, clean keyboards, desks and surfaces, and cover coughs and sneezes.

Nurse Jade and our custodial genius, Arnaldo Gando, have been working really hard to help us by distributing cleaning supplies, sharing information, and talking to students about the virus. We are being cautious, thoughtful, and following our school district and board policies.

If your child is ill, please keep them home. We are getting lots of spring colds, flu, and other illnesses and we all need to stay home until we are fever and vomit free for 24 hours and feel well. If you are struggling with childcare and ways to care for your sick child, please connect with our Social Worker, Tracey Thompson or our family support worker, Youka Hem to find resources and brainstorm solutions for your family. We are dedicated to partnering with families to ensure the health of all our students. You can call the main number at Lowell 206-252-3020 to talk with them.

I appreciate your partnership to keep Lowell students safe and secure. We have a particularly vulnerable group of students, since we have students who are medically fragile in our school. Your care and concern help us all stay safe and healthy.

    Thanks,

    Sarah Talbot
